I think my problem stems from several factors: a) my love of pattern and colour means that my many 'pieces' do not form a cohesive 'whole', b) my inability to let things go makes me a clothing collector and c) my low income justifies me buying a lot of single-season trendies and not enough of the classics. These, along with the fact that I am a relatively recent university graduate with no idea what demands my career path might make on my wardrobe, have combined to make the perfect storm of "nothing to wear".
So the goal is to create a wardrobe of more versatile pieces on my limited twenty-something budget, keeping in mind age appropriate style but matching it with separates and basics that allow me to dress with ease and a funky flare! This means getting rid of as many (and likely more) items than I acquire and using this blog as a centre of accountability and record-keeping.
The first of these is a list of what the Internets considers a solid wardrobe:
- 2 pairs of pants
- 4 skirts
- 2 blouses
- 4 simple tops in coordinating colours
- 1 jacket
- 1 cardigan in a coordinating colour
- 3 long sleeve tops
- 1 printed skirt
- 1 printed blouse or top
Evan will be helping me stick to it as the fall/winter season creeps ever closer! Here's to easier mornings!
Cheers,
Kristin
